Beautiful lingerie is one thing I would never be able to resist. Once upon a time I fell in love with the tiny gorgeous creations made of silk and lace and remained in inseparable blissful symbiosis forever. Well, lets be honest, how can you say “no” to something like this powdery pink set I recently added to my ever expanding collection.
For me lingerie is a lot more than just an undergarment. It’s a hidden treasure that makes me feel beautiful, feminine, sexy and confident. I believe that any woman should have a few beautiful sets in her draw and allow herself a little indulgence of lingerie shopping from time to time.
Talking of shopping and feeling special – I highly recommend Lingerie Please. The prices are great and every piece is hand picked for you, so to me it’s a virtual lingerie boutique that sells dreams.
But lets get back to Earth for a moment and talk about the basic rules before you hit the shops…
Just like a perfect wardrobe, a lingerie collection should include several styles and shapes that would provide a base for an outfit, enhance the assets, conceal little secrets and give emotional (and not only) lift and support. Of course, the pieces you choose would reflect your personality and lifestyle, but no matter what you preferences are, there are a few things that would certainly be useful:
* Seamless bras and panties in classic colours are perfect for wearing under fitted tops, t-shirts, delicate fabrics and, lets not forget to mention, trousers. After all, VPL has never made any bum look more desirable. Personally, I’d always go for bras with detachable or multiway straps, which would give me several options and work with virtually every outfit.
* Once the basics are sorted, it’s time for a treat. Let your imagination run wild and pick a matching set that hits all the right buttons in you. Push-up, balconette, triangle, padded and unpadded options for bras and thong, tanga, brief or hipsters for the bottoms are just a few options to compliment any shape.
* Then there’s a corset or bustier - weapons of seduction, they can double as an evening outerwear (remember that underwear as outerwear trend?) and look enviably sensual as lingerie when paired with a garter belt and stockings.
Another thing to bear in mind is that lingerie may need to be different depending on the season. Winter is all about feeling comfortable and warm without losing the sensuality, so natural fabrics like cotton, silk and cashmere in jewelled tones decorated with delicate lace, embroidery or little pretty bows would be perfect. In summer heat lace, light cotton or silk lingerie in nudes, whites, gorgeous gelato sweet pastels or tropical and floral prints will make a perfect choice.
Do you have any rules when it comes to lingerie? What styles and brands do you prefer? I would love to have a girly chat and share a few tips and secrets.
