Natalia Vodianova in Marie Claire 2001

I really don’t know why Lolita became an inspiration behind this photo story because, frankly, that’s the last thing I would think of. On the other hand, I do love the editorial shot by Jacques Olivar for Italian Marie Claire back in 2001. It’s one of those special ones you would want to keep forever.

  3. How strange we watched Lolita on dvd with Jeremy Irons recently and I think I can see the connection in the 2nd pic, I prefered the book though always have ambivalent feelings about it due to the subject but Nabokov is such a great writer! Your chocolate cake is really tempting and as I'm trying to eat better I will def try it!

    1. I also prefer the book the the movie. In fact, Lolita is one of my top 3 favourite books. I just love the music of Nabokov's writing and his way of describing feelings and emotions. I read it both in Russian and English because I wanted to experience the word play in a different language setting. It's such a masterpiece.
It really is a sweet coincidence that the editorial reflected your recent movie experience. :)

  5. Totally agreeing with you on the Lolita thing. The person who came up with that idea probably never read the book ;-)

But some of the outfits are really nice. I love the orange blouse (or is it red, I'm not sure) and the green sweater (everything in that photo is beautiful).

    1. I like some of the clothes here, too. And yes I'd really like to know why they called it "Lolita"...
