NYFW discovery: Michael Angel Fall 2012

10/02/2012

Michael Angel Fall/Winter 2012
I love mornings like this: magical snow-frosted winter wonderland outside, a cup of green tea and a piece of very dark chocolate as a treat and an array of gorgeous designs by Michael Angel.

The only problem I have with this collection is my total inability to select just a few looks because, frankly, I love every single one of them. Not too long ago a total virgin when it comes to prints, I am now falling in love with watercoloured graphics – some resembling oversized splinters of a dream or blurred sound waves and others looking like rainbow lights trapped inside precious cabochons. I adore the chunky knits (which would be very easy and quick to recreate at home with some Rowan merino wool), dresses, sharp jackets, impeccably tailored coats that are kind of sporty, but not to the point of being too “fitnessy”, shoes, a feminine hairband that adds softness and playfulness to every look… And lets not forget a gorgeous palette of cool greys, deep rich plums, frozen blues and soft greens not only because these are my favourite colours, but also because they look incredible here.

That’s a wonderful thing about fashion – it’s all about being inspired by and falling in love with the new while letting your heart beat a bit faster while anxiously waiting for the old favourites to show up.

  1. The prints look incredible (I'm also on new territory here), and so does the chunky sweater (I would make great use of it right now), the coats and the plum shades and the deep blue dress in the last image. You are so right, Natalia, it's wonderful to discover new designers while your enthusiasm is mounting up for the old favourites.

    Have a beautiful day! xo

  11. Oh my what fabulous prints! I wonder how much they cost... I was looking at some amazing prints at TopShop, the Mary K collaboration with the brand but the dresses are like £350!! I'm getting a bit more comfortable with prints and colour right now, I seem to be having a bit of a style evolution through the blog.

Hope you're having a good weekend!
