Fall 2012 accessories: long gloves

02/10/2012

Christian Dior Fall 2012
Have you noticed that a certain accessory comes and goes once every few years? This exact thing happened to long gloves that appeared everywhere a couple of years ago, then faded away and returned this autumn.

Timelessly elegant, the long gloves are one of the most beautiful accessories for Fall/Winter 2012-13. The multitude of colours, from classic black and tan to soft pink, grey, burgundy, amethyst, forest green and cerulean and a choice of soft leather, suede, cashmere or fabric will allow you to find something very special, made just for you.

Personally, I'd love to get the black pair in a buttery soft leather with silk lining because it would look good now and 10 years later and yes, with the right care it will last, too. Tan is also a wonderful choice, especially, if it goes well with clothes and accessories in your autumn/winter wardrobe. Suede is stunning, but can be high maintenance. As for cashmere... I would be very tempted... because it's like giving yourself a big soft warm hug whenever you feel like it. However, cashmere does require a lot of TLC, so be prepared to look after your treasure.

  1. Gloves are by far my favourite accessory for the cold season. I've always dreamed of an elbow-long pair of gloves. My first choices in terms of colour would be camel and tan and then black (I always seem to prefer brown shades to black when it comes to accessories). xo

    1. Ada, I am loving the tans, too. They would always be my first choice, although I feel that the black would be more practical and suit more outfits... Such a difficult choice to make. x

  3. Even if I go crazy for a burgundy pair of long gloves, I will be a demure girl and chose a tan leather pair to match all my outfits ;) I also mentioned my passion for long gloves today, dear Little Rus. Kisses :*

  4. This post speaks to me. For years the long gloves have been my first choice in autumn/winter, probably because I love everything with 3/4 sleeves. I want them in all colours and all fabrics. Is that too much to ask for? ;-)

    1. I think in a perfect world having long gloves in several colours would be wonderful. You know I really like the fact that they can work as sleeves allowing a girl to wear a sleeveless or 2/3 sleeved dress in colder seasons and look super chic! x

  5. The long black one's are ALWAYS a really good fashion staple to have. Glad to see this look is back! You just give things time and fashion always comes around full circle. Hopefully better than the first time. HaHaHa Love the fur trimmed ones too!

  6. It just goes to show that I have good reason to avoid having a clear out like my dad always suggest to me. You never know what may come back in trend lol :) Xxx
