Bag of the Month: April is for Angel Jackson

23/04/2013

Angel Jackson

When I came up with an idea of the Bag of the Month feature back in March, it was warmly welcomed by pretty much every girl who read the post. The true love of beautiful accessories was certainly taking a form of a worldwide affair.

The process of choosing the first candidate wasn’t easy, but I definitely wanted to avoid anything that may have an “It” attached to it. Although I understand the appeal of Alexander Wang, Chloe, Proenza, Valentino or Celine, I am a little tired of seeing them everywhere. They are, of course, beautiful, but the “It” factor makes them very, how should I put it, predictable…

What interests me is discovering something new, being surprised and sharing these finds and surprises with you – high end, high street – it’s not going to be about the location or trying to be “on trend”. It will always be about the bag.

I saw Samaya a while ago and thought of her as a gorgeous, exotic, vibrant and classic beauty that I would be proud to take with me anywhere. Designed by two young Brits, Katie and Millie, charming and talented siblings and founders of the Angel Jackson brand, the bag is a part of an extensive collection featured on Monnier Fr̬res, one of my most favourite on-line destinations for designer accessories (and yes, they do stock Chloe, Wang as well as Nina Ricci, Valentino, Marc Jacobs, Escada, Jitrois, Vanessa Bruno, Kenzo, Sonia Rykiel etc. etc. etc. Рevery fabulous bag is there, trust me)

According to the website description, Samaya, designed for “the effortlessly stylish and intelligent woman”, has “everything to seduce us” (including a price tag of £178) and I guess, I was an easy target.

What about you? Is your heart beating faster yet?

  1. It`s funny - we have so much in common and yet, on handbags, we differ. I normally find "it" pieces predictable, particularly in clothing, but when it comes to spending money on a handbag, which I could concievably have forever, I want something that is either already a classic, or could be someday. Which explains my Louis Vuitton Speedy, and my upcoming (very small) Celine purchase. With that said, however, this Angel Jackson bag is coming very close to changing my mind. The unique colour and chain strap are very appealing!

  2. I love this bag, especially its texture and metal clasp. I know what you mean about It bags being so predictable - I rather spend the money on something more unique and that reflects my personality!

  7. Love the new series, Natalia, especially that you focus on handbags which don't have the "It" factor attached to them. I'm tired of them too. There are so many great handbag bags out there, just as beautiful and, more importantly, more discrete. It's this quality I look for in a bag, evoking a subtle elegance. This one is beautiful. The colour makes it so appropriate for the summer.

  11. Mmm, I like the idea of bag of the month! I like the style and above all the color! I think we should get the kind of bag that pleases us, predictable or not. In fact, I don't have a particular style for bags, I am more a shoe-girl :) But I would definitely buy this bag now!

  14. I've just voted, Natalia! I know what you mean. I'm sick of the same It bags being floated everywhere on the streets, blogs etc etc. I've never heard of Angel Jackson. I'd love to see it in person.

  16. Great choice for the debut post Natalia, I'm in LOVE with this bag. The leather looks so supple and I'm a total sucker for anything with a faux snake/croc feel, not to mention the gorgeous shot of gold front centre. Love! And such a reasonable price too, hmm you have tempted me my dear, this is not good!!

  17. I'll join in the chorus and tell you how much I love the fact that you're diverting attention from the IT bags. I mean hell, I love a PS or Celine bag as much as the next girl, but do I love it because I love the design, or do I love it because every 'it' girl has it? I think it's the later, to be honest! I would never grab for a PS handbag if I was in a land full of handbags. I do like the frame of this particular bag, especially the color. The best part? The price tag!
