When I was born, my mum wanted to call me Daria or Dasha, for short. Then one of my grandmothers suggested Natalia. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if I had a different name… Would it change my destiny? Or the way I see myself? Do you believe that our names can influence the way we live and see ourselves?

And while wondering... Enjoy this incredible editorial - Daria photographed by Steven Meisel for the May 2004 issue of the Italian Vogue. Oh, those eyes….

  1. We are so similar sometimes, Natalia, I can't help but smile... my mother wanted to name me Jacqueline, after Mrs. Kennedy Onassis and I often wonder what type of person I might have been going through life in the shadow of such a great woman.

  6. Effortless and stunning! Love Ferragamo so much.
Crazy thing, I've had that same thought about how it would be if my dad got his way and named me Marissa.
Thanks so much for your kind words on my blog today. It means so much.

  7. I've honestly neve rapid that much attention to her before, but somehow in these images and with this hairstyle, she looks so stunning. For some reason, I do think a different name would lead to a different life, even if just slightly.

  8. Beautiful editorial as any where Daria models. It's almost 10 years gone but it seems she doesn't change at all

  9. Natalia is such a lovely name and it suits you well! I do believe that our names can have some influence in how we see ourselves and also how others perceive us. I used to wish that I had a more common name when I was younger but now I'm really glad it is what it is.

  10. да, я верю в то что имена несут в себе магию и энергетический посыл, однако одно лишь имя не делает нас теми кто мы есть.

  11. Hi Natalia! You know, I agree with you, I think that a different name could have influenced differently our life too and the way we see us. In fact, I dont like much my real name lol, thats why I prefer that people call my shorty or here Lilli:) Btw, Daria is stunning and just adore the shooting, full of grace!:) Kisses dear, happy Monday! xo

  14. My mom was going to name me Lori! LOL Then she saw a child by that name that didn't look too hot and went with Kim. HAHAHAHA I looked so "asian" when I was born that KIM fit! I love my name.

  17. She is always stunning, but never more so than here. I used to think that my name was so wrong and went by my initials up until grad school. Now I don't think it's as important, but definitely when we are young :)

  20. I've also often wondered what I would be like if I had another name. There were always so many other Sams in all my classes, it made me want a cool unique name that no one else had. This shoot of Daria is so gorgeous.

  24. I agree with Ada, you are certainly a Natalia, a beautiful and elegant name! I think Daria Werbowy remains one of my favourite models of our days and her CELINE campaigns (in which she has an uncanny resemblance with Phoebe Philo!) are simply stunning! Caterina
