After reading in Irreverent that Carine Roitfeld was inspired by Russian tsarevnas (Great Duchesses, daughters of Nicolas II) when styling the group photo, I became obsessed with finding the entire story and finally, last night, weeks after I’ve started, it appeared out of nowhere, as if by magic.
That very shot is still my favourite. I just love the details and romance of it, though it does make me sad, too, for the girls look like angels reminding of the tragedy that happened in 1918.
Still, there are smiles and innocent sweetness that make every photo so special and I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
