New must-have apps for fashion lovers

Richard Avedon foundation iPad app
I find it hard to believe that once upon a time I was very indifferent about an iPad. I didn't want it.  Full stop. I believed I'd rather have another pair of shoes, maybe even two or a handbag... I am sure you know the drill of financial prioritising techniques. The story was exactly the same as the one about me and my first PC - at first I said "What's the point?" (I was young, used to handwriting and we didn't have the internet, mind you!), fast forward (quite) a few years - my life would not be complete without it. The iPad was a gift from my husband, a surprise kind of gift. Of course, I was happy to receive it. Not because it was an iPad, but because I love presents and sleek beautiful gadgets. Needless to say, me and iPad got on pretty well from the start for I suddenly realised the world of possibilities I could get out of it, including shoe shopping and, indeed, the world of apps.

I played with a few of them, picked the best, wrote a blog post and haven't really been excited about any new ones until last week when I heard about the Richard Avedon catalogue. Launched by the Richard Avedon Foundation this elegant application contains some of his most iconic works organised by themes including Fashion, Portraits, Reportage, Exhibitions and Magazines as well as never-before-seen contact sheets and work prints for those who truly admire his talent.

I downloaded mine as soon as it became available and truly enjoyed browsing the photos and taking a trip down the memory lane, back to the 1940s where it all began. An absolute must-have if you love fashion. Available on iTunes and is free.

Hermes Silk Knots ipad app
Another gorgeous interactive "toy" I've been lovingly attached to is the Hermes Silk Knots, a new app that combines the famous Hermes knotting cards and a catalogue that includes the brand's most recent collection of scarves, advertising campaign and a few videos.

The Knots was my favourite, of course. I have always adored the cards, so having them as an interactive high-resolution step-by-step guide is not only extremely helpful, but also very inspiring. The only problem I seem to suffer from is wanting all of the scarves for myself - they are just so irresistibly beautiful! Available on iTunes for iPad and iPhone and is free to download.
