Paris fashion week spring 2015 highlights and news | shot of Lanvin Spring/Summer 2015
"I love Paris every moment, every moment of the year..." and during the fashion week because this beautiful style carousel makes my head spin and fills me with so my joy and inspiration I find it difficult to keep it all to myself.

I want to talk about collections, details, frills and buttons, beauty, accessories, the music - everything... I made a start yesterday and have a feeling it will take a few more posts to cover it all. One post just wouldn't do... It would feel too tight and claustrophobic. Besides, I dot want to put the blog in danger of bursting at the seams...

So lets focus on the news and highlights today... After all the wheel of fashion is spinning so fast that it's good to be aware of its current affairs...

Last Friday Jonathan Anderson, just a few days after the London fashion week, presented his version of Loewe, very sculpted and full of muted tones - the trench coats were particularly gorgeous.

That same day Parisian fashion aficionados also welcomed the Japanese designer Kunihiko Morinaga and his Anreleage collection that was surreal, fascinating, intricate and rather special... It made me think of being in a wild garden in a middle of the night, the shadows of the trees moving slowly in the moonlight, the sensation of darkness on the skin... There was some chemistry there, too... A real spectacle to witness if only I could be there to see it with my own eyes.

On Monday Julie de Libran showed her first collection for Sonia Rykiel, a debut she should be proud of - the clothes were beautiful, with a youthful and fresh Parisian vibe, sexy, happy, sweet and tempting, and there was a lot of looks to fall for, some of which made me think of the Sonia Rykiel circa 1992, the time when I fell in love with her designs...

It was also announced that Peter Copping will be leaving Nina Ricci for Oscar de la Renta, a move that made me feel both happy and sad. I am positive that Copping will make a wonderful job at de la Renta, but I know I will miss his Nina Ricci very much, plus the fact that the designer will be so far from Europe... His Spring/Summer collection had so much to choose from as if Copping created the ultimate day-to-night wardrobe for a Nina Ricci woman to ensure that we have plenty of options to choose from while he is away and the future is unknown...

As far as the Nina Ricci goes, there's a possibility that Guillaume Henry, who showed his last collection for Carven a few days ago, will be appointed as the new creative director. The name of his replacement at Carven is yet to be announced.

Hermes will also be saying official good-bye's to Christophe Lemaire (who is now going to focus on his own brilliant label) and warm hello's to Nadege Vanhee-Cybulski (who was only put into the spotlight recently after, almost anonymously, designing for The Row and, before that, Celine and Maison Martin Margiela). The gorgeous Spring/Summer 2015 was the last Hermes collection designed by Lemaire - Nadege will be taking control pretty much as soon as the show is over.

And talking of the Margiela... On Monday it was, unofficially, suggested that the legendary house may be welcoming (yes, yes, yes!) John Galliano to design a couture line. I sincerely hope that the rumours are true - don't you just miss the fantasy only Galliano was able to create?

Couture will also become the main focus for Jean-Paul Gaultier who decided to stop working with ready-to-wear and ending this era of his life with a show-stopping fireworks-worthy collection.

And, as if it was another Richard Curtis movie (or a line from the Derzhavin's ode), we lost Gaby Aghion - the Chloe founder passed away on 27 September, just a day before the show. The beautiful Spring/Summer collection was dedicated to her...

I hope I didn't miss anything or anyone... If I did, please do let me know. And don't forget to stop by tomorrow for another dose of Paris.

  3. Just the idea of John Galliano possibly collaborating in any way with MMM has me bursting with excitement - my two favourites coming together! And Kunihiko Morinaga had me absolutely swooning. What a debut! I can't wait to see what will come next season.

  4. It is Paris after all so I'm glad you decided to separate this posts into others. There is way too much awesomness for one post (plus it would be really annoying trying to load it all bahahaha) Oh and Chanel needs a post to itself. That show was epic.
