PFW Spring/Summer 2015 details

Haider Ackermann Spring/Summer 2015
"The truth of the story lies in the details." Paul Auster

It all begins with a grain of fibre. The stalk of flax, the little cloud of cotton, the strand of silk, the fuzzy wool, they turn into cloth, yarn and threads - the raw forms that can become the pleats, embroideries, lace, jacquard and brocade to give us a dream.

In his interview Dries van Noten admitted that his idea of a perfect collection was to enjoy the process of creating the material, playing with it, making the clothes from beautiful fabrics...

His words made me wonder how absolutely mind-blowing it is that a human mind can give a piece of textile such a unique and unforgettable future... mould it, shape it, adorn it with the sparkling jewels and silk flowers, pearls and ribbons, inhale a dream into those fibres.

One must possess quite an imagination, eye, talent and skill to be able to do that.

From a grain of fibre to something so very magnificent... From a faraway field to the Parisian catwalk...

  4. I think there is something almost primordial about the human relationship with fabric - in a world where we live in cities, among concrete and we are so far from nature in every respect, good quality textiles, natural ones, can take us back to our roots without our even realizing it. And I think it is this connection to fabric and, indirectly, to the earth is what gives birth to incredible designs.

    1. I think that it is our need for a fairy tale or a fantasy though... There's so much minimalism, concrete and ungliness around that we naturally turn to something outworldly... And yes, the nature is one of the magical elements - it's the beauty in its purest form. x
