NYFW: Elizabeth & James for grown-ups

Melina Gesto for Elizabeth & James Fall/Winter 2015
"She made me do it," I can say pouting my lips in a manner of some 5-year old character
played by Ashley (or Mary-Kate) Olsen. But, in all honesty, if it wasn't for Melina Gesto whom I adore, adore and adore once again, Elizabeth & James wouldn't really grab me for as long as it takes to browse the entire presentation.

However, it was Melina, so I could not possibly ignore yet another fantastic work of hers. And yes, I was very pleased with my decision because the Elizabeth & James Fall 2015 is simply beautiful. The squareness (also known as "the sporty trend") was no longer there and the fluid lines complimented by the chunkiness of ribbed knitwear and comforted by Mongolian furs were poetic. The sensation of youth and freshness remained, but became more polished, more grown-up.

The accessories deserve a story of their own - and a place in my collection. And if anyone mentions anything about "having enough bags already", I am going to respond with "she made me do it"... And I couldn't resist the temptation.

  6. I'm very glad to see the sporty, boxiness leave this collection and make way for more fluid, feminine lines. The full length navy dress practically gave me heart palpitations when I first saw it, it's so lovely!

  10. I am so glad you shared this. I was just reading about this collection. Now I know why I love it so.
The lines are perfect and simple. The details are begging, with the slits exposing legs, but not so extreme. Love the casual look with the back pack. This can appeals to such a broad range of consumes.
    Well done!
