Timeless chic: Derek Lam Spring 2007

Looking back at both my Timeless chic picks and lifelong style favourites, I've come to realise that the pieces that make it into the fashion realm are, more often than not, inspired by menswear. The trench, the white shirt, the marinere, the trousers, adapted to have a softer appeal without losing their strength and simplicity. They really stand the test of time without loosing the allure of masculine femininity I am subconsciously attracted to.

No wonder, these looks from the Derek Lam Spring/Summer 2007 collection resonated so deeply. Just two, but so beautiful and refined, with every element, including the newly launched handbags and shoes, chosen carefully to compliment the rest.  And, of course, the materials... The suede, the linens, the cashmere and the raw silks are just heavenly. They may be nine years old by now, but that's the thing about classics - they don't really age...

Do you know that the striped jacket outfit even became one of the permanent V&A exhibits? An unexpected discovery that didn't surprise me at all.

  5. Fascinating observation. And proof to that assertion is the very likeness of these clothes to the ones on the runway NOW. But I do think-hope that some of the ruffles and lace of this season ( overdone, but this will be subdues when actually worn on the streets) will add some of the feminine to the classic look, making it a better balanced classic wardrobe.
    Love your choices!

    1. I think femininity will always, always resurface, Elle. As simple and clean the 2015 look is, we still need the fantasy and that air of magic and lightness. :) Just look at all the gorgeous lace and florals for Spring/Summer 2015, and, of course, that gorgeous Nina Ricci collection, the last one by Copping. x

  11. Полоска - это конечно же классика. Особенно такая затейливая, стильная полоска, что продемонстрирована в этих элегантных нарядах, что на снимках. Наташа, у тебя безупречный вкус, мне так кажется:)
