Best new fashion book releases Spring/Summer 2015 / Yves Saint Laurent, Halston, fashion models, Fashion Lives, Alexander McQueen, Savage Beauty, Sacai, Pradasphere, Giorgio Armani / via fashioned by love british fashion blog
Ah, the pleasure of holding a new book! The weight, the smell, the soft sensation of touching the pages. And then all the wonderful discoveries, stories, the photos that have never been shared before and the ones we carefully keep in our memories and, if you are like me, a trusty, slightly tired, but precious and absolutely irreplaceable folder.

I'd be lost without my tomes and I'd certainly feel out of my comfort zone if I couldn't add a few news ones to the collection.

Here are my Summer 2015 picks that would make an interesting read and a source of endless inspiration.

Yves Saint Laurent + Halston: fashioning the 70s / best fashion books / fashion books new releases 2015 / via fashioned by love british fashion blog
Yves Saint Laurent + Halston: Fashioning the '70s by Patricia Mears and Emma McClendon is a must have for all fashion lovers. Not only the edition that accompanied the recent FIT exhibition allows us to understand the transformation of style and the way we dressed, but examines the work, surprising similarities and truly unique designs of Yves Saint Laurent and Halston - two iconic names in the 20th-century fashion who influenced those changes.

Models of Influence: 50 women who reset the course of fashion by Nigel Barker / best fashion books / fashion books new releases 2015 / via fashioned by love british fashion blog
Models of Influence: 50 Women Who Reset the Course of Fashion by Nigel Barker grabbed my attention because I thought that it would make a perfect visual for the Model: The Ugly Business of Beautiful Women by Michael Gross - a fascinating read that, I felt, always lacked the visuals. Not only the Models of Influence satisfied my need for the quality photos of Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn, Dovima, Dorian Leigh and Lauren Hutton photographed by Avedon, Penn, Ritts and Bailey, it also gave me plenty of beautiful editorial shots of Christy, Naomi, Linda, Kate, Amber Valletta, Gisele, Daria and many other gorgeous models that shaped the industry and our perception of beauty and style.

Fashion Lives: Fashion Icons book / best fashion books / fashion books new releases 2015 / via fashioned by love british fashion blog
Fashion Lives: Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis is a sort of read I adore because it gives me a glimpse into the private world, mind and feelings of people I am fascinated by. The 'no-topic-off-limits' volume curated by Fern Mallis is a collection of nineteen interviews with some of the most influential fashion personalities including Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors, just to name a few.

Alexander McQueen by Claire Wilcox book / Savage Beauty / best fashion books / fashion books new releases 2015 / via fashioned by love british fashion blog
Alexander McQueen by Claire Wilcox was created to accompany the Savage Beauty exhibition at V&A and is one of the McQueen-dedicated titles that I consider a must-have. Presented as a series of 28 essays written by the industry's best, it opens a window into the designer's creative process, the moments that influenced him along the way, covers all of his collections and shares over 400 photos and sketches from the intimate portraits taken backstage to his inspiration boards.

This is not just a photo album or exhibition catalogue - in fact if it is just the close-ups and high-resolution imagery that you are after, pick a copy of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty  published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This book is an intimate, inspirational read, a source of information. I am incredibly picky when it comes to anything related to Alexander McQueen, but for me, this volume is absolutely flawless.

Sacai A to Z book best fashion books / fashion books new releases 2015 / via fashioned by love british fashion blog
Sacai: A to Z is the first title fully dedicated to the work of  one of the most innovative and unique fashion houses. The book edited by Sacai founder and designer Chitose Abe gives an access to the house behind-the-scenes through the in-depth essays and 200 photographs as the most straightforward way to appreciate the complexity of her work, choice of fabrics, garments and patterns that can, at first glance, be misunderstood, but in fact can be worn by virtually every woman out there. If you are a lover of Sacai, Japanese fashion or the word "fusion", you need this book. It's fantastic.

Pradasphere / Prada new book 2015 / fashion books new releases 2015 / via fashioned by love british fashion blog
Pradasphere by Michael Cox and Stephanie Murg is described, in a true Prada style, as "a snapshot of a single moment: now". In this case, the exhibition that was held in Harrods last year and can be seeing in Milan if you are visiting. Typically of Miuccia and the way she publishes the books, the volume doesn't say much, but gives you plenty of photos to create your own story through the timeless Prada designs, film and architectural inspiration.

Vogue on Giorgio Armani Biography Book / best fashion books / fashion book releases 2015 / via fashioned by love british fashion blog
Vogue on Giorgio Armani by Kathy Phillips is the first of several titles celebrating the elegance of Giorgio Armani signature style and his 40-year career in fashion, from the moment he got a job as a window-dresser to becoming one of the most influential names of the industry and the head of a multi-billion dollar empire.

The History of Modern Fashion by Daniel James Cole / best fashion books spring/summer 2015 / fashion books releases / via fashioned by love british fashion blog
I am not so secretly dying to see the preview of The History of Modern Fashion book by Daniel James Cole and Nancy Deihl that looks at the history of fashion from 1850 to 2010 and its influences on our style, arts and culture and serves as a visual reference to anyone interested in fashion.

  3. I sure wouldn't mind adding The History of Modern Fashion and Alexander McQueen to my fashion book collection. I already own The Savage Beauty book and the latter sounds like a perfectly accompaniment.
