This outfit is my idea of colouring outside the lines and looking beyond the obvious. It was one of my Tome Spring/Summer 2015 favourites, but at first all I could see was the sleeveless trench dress, the belt and the sandals as if my mind only chose to see what it was prepared to notice.
As I began dissecting the look months later, the complexity of it suddenly hit me. It wasn't just about the New York-inspired simplicity and architectural lines, but the whole art of layering colour upon colour upon colour until they worked in synergy - the sand, the rich gold, the gorgeous saffron, maroon and pure white, the moment when India and its tradition took the central stage.
The original outfit is created with a pair of yellow culottes, but I swapped them for a dress mainly because this shade of yellow is notoriously difficult to come by unless we are talking £500+ mark. Besides, having an extra dress would mean additional possibilities of mixing and matching these few items.
And yes, I know it's pretty complicated, but so beautiful...
