I blame it on summer with it early, dusty rose, dewy mornings and intoxicating echoing nights, the chorus of birds, the whispering sea.. More than anything else, they stir something in me, bring out the need to connect with nature, embrace it and blend in - not the crowds, but the essence of the Earth...
Over the years I've come to realise that, as much as I love the energy and buzz, the gorgeous heels and pretty dresses, I would never feel complete without those peaceful moments spent in a country side or simply away from everything (even if it is in my own little garden), not a care in the world...
Naturally, it is also in summer when I long for simplicity of the white cotton, silk and unbleached linens, a cosy hand-knitted web of an Orenburg shawl on a chilly evening, a pair of espadrilles, a straw basket, delicious meals made with all things organic... Even my skincare and make-up, as minimalistic as they are, also become even more pure and unfussy.
Maybe this is why the Resort collection that really resonated with me this season were the ones that connected fashion and Earth through the choice of fabrics and colours, lattice work and intricate embroideries, the ease of silhouettes and individuality... the artful sense of zen and natural progression to elegance, if you like.
