While men are busy embracing their feminine side on the Fall/Winter 2016 runway, women are following the legacy of Yves Saint Laurent and his smoking - a streamlined and classy suit that created a revolution and made women feel their most sexy and beautiful, powerful and elegant.

From Armani and Bottega Veneta to Chanel and Hermes, the androgynous two-piece appeared in dozens of Spring/Summer collections bringing back the icon, memories and endless possibilities of styling: the duo can be worn as a coordinated suit, with heels or brogues, white shirt, blouse or tank; the blazer will work as a stylish cover up with anything from jeans to a flirty silk maxi dress, and the slacks -serve as an homage to Chanel and Poiret who put women in trousers in the first place giving a girl a power of movement and ultimate comfort, ready to conquer the world, just like men did, once...

  2. Having grown up in the era between the launch of the revolutionary smoking and these more modern version of it, I must admit that I have an aversion to women's suits - not because I don't love the originals and don't see the beauty in these new creations, but because what came in between, what was sold off the rack in the intervening years, was often so truly hideous. I recall school administrators in lime green and navy suits; librarians in ill-fitting head-to-toe plum suits and so many, many more I could name. I think it will be a long while before I forget those horrors and can truly embrace le smoking.
