Inspired by Pantone: strawberry ice

Forget Wimbledon whites. Not only because I been there and done so many "white stories" it's practically dazzling over here, but also because there's a logic behind the choice of today's colour...

Indeed, it was inspired by Wimbledon, but this year my mind chose to see it from a food-related perspective... The iconic strawberries and cream, a kind of gourmet simplicity that gets mentioned during the tournament as much, if not more, than Andy Murray.

The dessert also happens to be one of my most favourite indulgences as we always had it during summer month back in Russia where the supplies of home grown strawberries were plentiful and the milk and cream - the freshest possible, brought every morning from the nearby village. Once combined, the two simple ingredients would turn into a marble-like dance of flavours and colours, swirling inside a large porcelain bowl, so irresistible, so good... And at the end, once the waltz is over, the ruby red juice would melt into the ivory, in a blissful exhaustion, creating a soft, feminine hue of pink that became one of the Pantone colours of Spring/Summer 2015, fashionably referred to as "strawberry ice".

  2. This shade will always take me back to the particular brand of strawberry ice cream that my parents bought when I was growing up - it came in a rectangular box, sometimes with vanilla and chocolate mixed in, and although I doubt I would rush to eat it now, it will always be one of the tastes of my childhood. I've rarely considered it for clothing, but I must admit I'm now changing my mind!

    1. I think when it's the right shade of pink, it grows on you very quickly. I happened to me a few years ago when I found my one. And I must admit, I find both dresses here very irresistible - wish they were mine. x
