Transitioning: best runway looks to style & wear now

Transitioning from summer to fall with best looks from Maiyet, Mulberry, Sonia Rykiel, Gucci, Rachel Comey, Phillip Lim, Celine, Carven, Donna Karan, Martin Grant, Elie Tahari & Sportmax Pre-Fall 2015 collections via fashionedbylove / british fashion blog
Once upon a time, still a kid, I heard that Parisiennes use designer collections purely as a starting point of inspiration and hardly ever - as a mandatory shopping list. It was another style rule I happily absorbed because it made a lot of sense and could suit any budget or adapted to my own life, location and needs.

It also made me have more fun with the clothes I already had at my disposal, never feeling like a victim of circumstances (our choices and were extremely limited) or, God forbid, fashion. Frankly, unlike the "rules" of Parisian style, I never actually knew the term "fashion victim".

Nowadays I tend to watch and review the collections as they happen, choose my favourite, then let my initial emotions and impressions rest and marinate, and, as the seasons are about to change, revisit everything and fill the gaps, both in my memories and closet.

Today I turned to Pre-Falls because, just as the name suggest, these are simply perfect for that August/September time, when we swing between the days of Indian summer and cloudy and cold spells - impossible to get through without a few extra layers.

And if you are looking for more inspiration, stop by Look-a-Porter. This week I took a simple high street dress and styled it four different ways inspired by the ironic names of Parisian fashion.

  4. I remember when I worked in retail, I thought it was so silly that we stopped selling summer clothes in July. But now that I have a deeper understanding of fashion, I realize that by late July, it's time to start thinking about fall fashions. I recently made my first fall purchase, which definitely falls into the coat and layered category and I'm envisioning a lot of midi skirts for myself again this year - the trend just doesn't get old!

  6. Fabulous pieces and terrific inspiration.. Hmm. let me marinate....
Wise strategy, good word choice, I do the same.
I shop a lot, look a lot, and try to choose mindfully! ( and not overspend!)
I love each piece, captivated most by the embellished skirt, and the artful styling of each ensemble.

  7. So much inspiration here! I want the green trench and that tweed one too. I love to follow the shows for inspiration but let it sit and sort of filter into what I need and can afford!
