Best new fashion and style book releases fall/autumn 2015 / giorgio armani, donna karan, cindy crawford, manolo blahnik, chanel the enigma, diana vreeland, garance dore, sartorialist, fendi, karl lagerfeld, oscar de la renta / via fashioedbylove.co.uk british fashion blog
September... The month of knowledge, fresh beginnings, new experiences and fantastic new fashion tomes to add to your library. I admit, I've already ordered some of them, a habit that I can't seem to shake off - just love the whole idea of buying books before their official release date, then totally forgetting about them for several months until one fine day a parcel appears in my post box... It's just like Christmas, over and over again: opening the box, holding a little book in my hands for the first time, inhaling its wonderful aroma, hearing the familiar delicate cracking sound as I open it and then reading, reading, reading, rain or shine... Feels so good, no wonder I am addicted.

Here is my Autumn selection of unmissable fashion titles...

Best fashion and style book releases in autumn / fall 2015. Giorgio Armani biography by Giorgio Armani / via fashionedbylove.co.uk british fashion blog
Lets start the biographies with Giorgio Armani by Giorgio Armani, a book celebrating a talented mind and a fashion house built on believes in style, minimalism, quality and wearability. The heavy and beautiful tome is likely to be the most comprehensive guide to Armani's career and a rare insight into his personal life.

Following an exhibition at the Savannah College of Art and Design he curated, Andre Leon Talley creates an intimate story of Oscar de la Renta in his book Oscar De La Renta: His Legendary World of Style that combines beautiful stories and stunning haute couture dresses designed by de la Renta for his private clients. It's a journey through the career of one of the most iconic fashion designers, from the moment he arrived to Madrid and later, Paris, to establishing his own fashion house 50 years ago. A must for every de la Renta admirer.

Until now, Camilla Morton's Tale of the Elves and the Shoemaker book was the only biography written about legendary Manolo Blahnik, the shoe designer who very much shaped the world of contemporary fashion and influenced our style, so it's incredibly exciting to finally have Manolo Blahnik: Fleeting Gestures and Obsessions, a precious documentary of essays, photos, illustrations and stories that gives us a rare opportunity to have a peek into the beautiful and imaginative world of one of the most legendary creatives of the industry.

Another book I am really looking forward to is My Journey, an autobiography written by Donna Karan, one of my favourite designers and a woman whom I deeply admire and adore. So far I've aquired every book about her, whether it was a college tome or interview, almost as if I was collecting precious pearls or, in Karan-Weiss' words "connecting the dots". This is the very first book where Donna will share the story in her own words without prettifying or drying out the facts. I cannot wait to read it.

Isabelle Fiemeyer continues her fascination with Gabriele Chanel's extraordinary life in her latest biography Chanel: The Enigma, a personal account made of stories shared by the designers' closest friends, relatives, photographers and artists. A beautiful book also includes never before seen photographs and documents from the wartime period.

Best fashion and style book releases in autumn / fall 2015 / Fendi 50 years by Karl Lagerfeld / via fashionedbylove.co.uk british fashion blog
Lagerfeld's Fendi 50 years is a collectors item. It's not just a book that opens the doors into the house of Fendi and gives us a glimpse into Karl Lagerfeld's working process through his drawings and interviews... It's also a beautifully presented gift, a box of treasures, from the package itself, modelled on the box of oil pastels used by the designer, to a poster, DVDs, booklets and sketches. An absolute treat!

And talking of sketches... The Litchfield Historical Society will be releasing The House of Worth: 1916-1918, a book of 125 watercolour and ink designs created by Charles Worth, the father and founder and the core of couture and modern fashion and later donated to the Society by one of the Litchfield residents who used to be sent the drawings of the collections, fabric swatches and personal notes before placing her orders for the season. I don't think the little tome will receive a lot of press for it's not a heavy glossy edition, but on the other hand the book is definitely worth having if you are interested in the history of fashion and, of course, Mr Worth's vision and style.

Diana Vreeland is another iconic fashion personality I find incredibly inspiring, so any new book about Vreeland is yet another source of inspiration and positive energy for me. Naturally, Diana Vreeland: the Modern Woman: The Bazaar Years, 1936-1962 is also on-preorder as we speak.

I feel the latest addition that focuses on Vreeland's 30 years at Harper's Bazaar will make a perfect companion to 2013's Memos: The Vogue Years and definitely a mandatory purchase for anyone interested in fashion and unique point of view.

Best fashion and style book releases in autumn / fall 2015 / Cindy Crawford biography Becoming Cindy Crawford book review / via fashionedbylove.co.uk british fashion blog
Alright, lets take a deep breath... Do you believe that Cindy Crawford is almost 50? 50!!!??? I just doesn't sound right at all for me. Cindy was one of the first models I've noticed and fell in love with. Cindy was the model who inspired me to exercise (true story!). And since she was one of the girls who would absolutely influence my decision on buying a glossy magazine, it goes without saying that I will definitely be adding Becoming Cindy Crawford to my library comes October.

Autumn would not be complete without three books featuring familiar faces and providing plenty of style inspiration.

Best fashion and style book releases in autumn / fall 2015 / Ines de la Fressange The Secrets of Parisian Chic, beauty & fashion tips from Parisienne new book / via fashionedbylove.co.uk british fashion blog
The first one is The Secrets of Parisian Chic by Ines de la Fressange. It was such a delightful surprise to discover because I loved her first book published in 2011. I just love the charm, the writing, the sketches... I love Ines' style because it resonates... Well, I simply love Ines.

Best fashion and style book releases in autumn / fall 2015 / Garance Dore LovexStylexLife boo / via fashionedbylove.co.uk british fashion blog
Another special Parisienne who wrote a style book is, of course, the wonderful Garance Dore. Love x Style x Life is your best friend, stylist, backstage pass and very friendly guide through fashion.

Best fashion and style book releases in autumn / fall 2015 / The Sartorialist: X by Scot Schuman book / via fashionedbylove.co.uk british fashion blog
Scott Schuman also released a book titled The Sartorialist: X  that complete the trilogy of Shuman's work and shares some of the most inspiring and stylish looks ever captured on camera.

And so we have it, the best of them all... Though I should add that this is only part I as there are a few other gorgeous released to look forward to this season, but since most are image-focused, I'll share them as a separate post.

    1. That's a very frustrating thing - the titles seem to have different release date here, in the States and, well now you say, in Canada. There are also a few tomes I would absolutely love to buy, but they have been postponed until early 2016. Still... At least I can deal with this lot first. :D
