And so the earlier rumours are confirmed: Hedi Slimane really is leaving Saint Laurent, WWD reported earlier today. His contract expired on Thursday and since it wasn't mentioned it looks like the Fall/Winter 2016 ready-to-wear collection was the last one he did for the house.
The new creative director is yet to be announced, however, Anthony Vacarello who is currently designing for his own brand as well as Versace's Versus, has been mentioned on a number of occasions. Personally, I'd rather see somebody else for I really want something more elegant and much less provocative for the house (perhaps, Alber Elbaz? Wouldn't that be fantastic?). Besides Vacarello seems really in his element at Versus, so I personally don't see why he'd leave Donatella after he trusted him with the brand.
Whatever happens, it is said that the new creative director will be starting on 1 May, so we don't have to wait too long before his (or hers?) name is announced.
